Reporting Intelligence for BC Cloud for Excel Online Reference
This article provides a systematic description of Reporting Intelligence's prerequisites, settings, and ribbon controls.
Prerequisites
| Requirement | Description |

| Jet Reports subscription | An active subscription is required. |
| Platform and Reports Center access | You must have access to both the Jet Platform and Reports Center. |
| Business Central Cloud data source | At least one Business Central Cloud data source must be configured in Reports Center. Other data source types are not supported. |
Settings
The Settings pane (Reporting Intelligence > Settings) contains two configurable fields:

| Data Source | A Business Central Cloud data source configured in your organization's Reports Center. |
| Company | A company available from the selected data source. |
Both values must be set and saved before you can run reports.
Ribbon Controls
The following controls are available on the Reporting Intelligence tab in the Excel ribbon:

| User Profile | Task pane | Displays the signed-in user's profile and account details. Provides options to sign out or switch environments. |
| Design | Mode toggle | Activates Design Mode for the current workbook. Displays Jet formulas and placeholder values for editing. |
| Run | Action | Uploads the workbook to the Jet cloud service for asynchronous execution. Opens the Report Status pane to track progress. |
| Drilldown | Action | Opens the underlying Business Central Cloud data for the selected cell value in a new browser tab. |
| Report Status | Task pane | Displays the execution progress and results of submitted reports. Completed reports can be opened in a new tab or downloaded. |
| Access Reports Center | External link | Opens the Jet Reports Center web application in a new browser tab. |
| Upload to Reports Center | Task pane | Uploads the current workbook to Reports Center for scheduling, sharing, or later execution. |
| Function Wizard | Task pane | Provides a step-by-step interface for creating Jet formulas without writing them manually. Currently supports the NL function only. |
| Settings | Task pane | Opens the settings panel for selecting a data source and company. |
| Help | External link | Opens the Jet Reports documentation page in a new browser tab. |

Report Execution Behavior
- Reports are executed asynchronously in the cloud service.
- Results are returned as separate downloadable Excel files — they are not written into the active workbook.
- Completed reports can be opened in a new browser tab or downloaded from the Report Status pane.
- Report options are not currently supported (planned for later in 2025).
Drilldown Behavior
- Drilldown opens a new browser tab pointing to the Business Central Cloud instance.
- The tab displays the data behind the selected cell value.
Design Mode Behavior
- Formulas and placeholder values are displayed instead of computed results.
- Design Mode is optimized for speed but is not guaranteed to show accurate data.
- To view accurate results, run the report.
