Enable or disable the Reporting Intelligence Excel add-in

Overview

You should configure Excel for the Reporting Intelligence tab to appear on the Excel sheet. If many users share a workstation or server, each user must configure Excel so that the Reporting Intelligence tab appears on the Excel sheet, as Excel remembers add-in configurations based on user.

If you open Excel with the Reporting Intelligence add-in by double-clicking the "Reporting Intelligence icon on your desktop, the Reporting Intelligence add-in is automatically enabled before Excel starts.

If the Reporting Intelligence tab is not visible when you open Excel, following are the ways to enable the Reporting Intelligence add-in:

  • Using the Enable Reporting Intelligence Add-In app

  • Manually enabling the Reporting Intelligence Excel Add-In

Using the Enable Jet Add-In

  • If you are a user with administrative privileges, use the Enable Reporting Intelligence Add-In app. This app runs automatically after you install Reporting Intelligence or it can be run from the Windows start menu.

Manually Enabling the Reporting Intelligence Excel add-in

If the Enable Reporting Intelligence Add-In app does not work, you can also use Excel to enable the Reporting Intelligence add-in manually.

  1. Open Excel and go to the Excel add-ins

    • Excel 2010 and higher - File > Options > Add-Ins > Manage > Excel Add-ins > Go
    • Excel 2007 - Office Button > Excel > Options > Add-Ins > Manage > Excel Add-ins > Go

    The Add-ins window is displayed.

  2. On the Add-ins window, select the Browse... button.

    If you have other add-ins enabled in Excel, it is recommended to temporarily disable them prior to enabling the Jet add-in.

  3. Go to the Reporting Intelligence folder (default: C:\Program Files (x86)\ReportingIntelligence).

    Select the ReportingIntelligence.xll file and select OK. If you are prompted to replace the file, select Yes.

  4. A Reporting Intelligence ribbon will be visible in Excel.

Manually Disabling the Reporting Intelligence Excel add-in

  1. Open Excel and go to the following path based on your Excel version:

    • Excel 2010 and higher - File > Options > Add-Ins > Manage > Excel Add-ins > Go
    • Excel 2007 - Office Button > Excel > Options > Add-Ins > Manage > Excel Add-ins > Go

    The Add-ins window is displayed.

  2. Clear the Reporting Intelligence box and select OK.
