Step 1: File Location
Reporting Intelligence for Other ERPs stores configuration files directly in Platform Storage. When you open Application Configurator for the first time, your existing configuration files are automatically migrated to Platform Storage. After migration, file path fields in Application Configurator and Reporting Intelligence Settings are automatically populated and set to read-only. No manual path configuration is required.
Before You Start
Ensure the following prerequisites are met before proceeding:
- A provisioned insightsoftware Platform account with users added and licenses assigned
- Account Manager role to open Application Configurator and complete migration
What Is Stored in Platform Storage
After migration, the following files and folders are stored in Platform Storage:
- AdHocQueries
- Application Data
- CustomGL
- Layouts
- Query Designer queries
- DotNetConnections.xml
- DotNetSecurity.xml
Note: SSSettings.xml, ACSettings.xml, and Backups are not stored in Platform Storage. These files remain local.
Migrate to Platform Storage
Migration runs automatically when you open Application Configurator for the first time. Application Configurator detects that migration has not yet occurred and runs it in the background. You do not need to take any action to start the migration.
Note: Migration is a one-time, one-way process. End users cannot use Reporting Intelligence for Other ERPs until the administrator completes migration.
To complete migration:
- On your desktop, click Start > Reporting Intelligence Suite > Application Configurator. The Administrator Login panel displays.
- Enter your administrator username and password and click OK. Migration runs automatically in the background.
- When migration is complete, click File > Settings. The Application Configurator Settings panel displays.
- In the General tab, confirm the following banner displays in the Security section: Your organization uses Platform Storage. Storage location is managed centrally.
- Confirm that the Security File Folder field is set to Platform Storage and is read-only.
Note: If you want to opt out of migration, clear the Perform Settings Migration checkbox when prompted during the upgrade process. To migrate to Platform Storage at a later time, contact insightsoftware Support.
Application Configurator Settings After Migration
After migration, the following fields in the General tab of Application Configurator Settings are automatically populated and set to read-only:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Security File Folder | Automatically set to Platform Storage. This field is read-only after migration. |
| Platform API Key | Use Generate to create a new API key or Manage to view and manage existing keys. |
| Platform Token Timeout | Enter the number of days, up to 14, after which the application requires Platform users to re-authenticate. This is the only field that remains editable after migration. |
Reporting Intelligence Settings After Migration
For end users, file path fields in Reporting Intelligence Settings are automatically populated and locked to Platform Storage after migration. End users do not need to update any paths manually.
The following fields update automatically to point to Platform Storage and are set to read-only:
- Security File Folder
- Segment List Folder
- Ad Hocs Folder
- Designer GL Definition Folder
- EDQ Files Folder
Query Designer
After migration, Query Designer reads connections from Application Configurator and reads and writes queries to Platform Storage. No additional configuration is required in Query Designer.
Connections
You can still create and manage additional connections in Application Configurator after migration. Migration to Platform Storage does not affect existing connections or the process of adding new ones.
